Sox loose 12-8 to Weyburn in extra innings.

The Sox and Weyburn played Wednesday night on a night best suited for tornado watching. Both teams battled through high winds sometimes gusting to 8o km/hr.

For the second game in the row the Sox battled back after trailing 7-2 after 7 innings. They scored 4 runs in the 8th and 2 runs in the 9th to tie the game and force extra innings. This was similar to Sunday’s game where they overcame a big deficit to force extra innings, but the result was different this game. Weyburn scored 5 runs in the top of the 10th inning and Regina scored 1 run.

Oliver Barcal started and pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up 7 runs on 6 hits and was lucky to avoid a loss. Brendan Gutierrez and Zander Oudie-Senger pitched well out of the pen and allowed 0 runs. Nicolas Yard pitched the 10th inning for the Sox allowing 5 runs and took the loss. Weyburn’s Ethan Webster gathered the win, pitching in the 9th and 10th innings.

Offensively the Sox had multiple hits from Glenn Noronha, Silas Butler, Angelo Franco (homerun), Deigo Aragon (Playing his first game), Brady Bye, and Alex Mendez. The Sox stranded 8 batters.

Sox hit the road in Edmonton and Fort MacMurray starting today and return to Currie Field Tuesday June 11th where they host Swift Current 57’s at 7:00 PM
