Energy City Metro Ballpark Update
The Board of Governors of the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) has voted unanimously in favor of allowing the Energy City Cactus Rats to play all home games at the Energy City Metro Ballpark in Spruce Grove for the remainder of the 2026 season.
“We have seen the progress made by the Cactus Rats organization over the last number of days with fulfilling facility and league obligations, as well as the presentation of a plan to carry out the ballpark project to completion,” said WCBL President Kevin Kvame.
“For the good of the league, we feel it is important to give the Cactus Rats organization enough runway to do that.”
The first Cactus Rats game at Energy City Metro Ballpark is set to take place on Wednesday, June 17th against the Okotoks Dawgs. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m.
The current occupancy permit allows for teams, an umpiring crew and support staff to attend. Fans are not allowed in the ballpark but can watch the livestream of the game on FloCollege.
More information about this decision will be announced in the near future.
