Regina, Sask. — The Regina Red Sox have bolstered their pitching staff with the addition of two experienced arms, signing right-hander David Gordon and left-hander Samuel Jackson ahead of the upcoming WCBL season.
Gordon, a junior at Arizona Christian University (NAIA), has been dominant this season out of the bullpen. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound right-hander owns a stellar 1.38 ERA across 14 appearances, recording six saves while striking out 18 batters over 13 innings, issuing just four walks. A native of El Cajon, California, Gordon previously pitched at Southwestern College (California) from 2024-2025, where he posted a 3.60 ERA in 2025 with 19 strikeouts over 20 innings in 16 appearances.
“David is a top-tier backend arm who will be relied upon in high-leverage situations for us this season,” said Red Sox field manager Rye Pothakos. “He’s a big-bodied right-hander with excellent stuff who throws strikes consistently. With well over a strikeout per inning, we’re expecting him to play a major role for us this summer.”
Jackson, a junior at the University of New Mexico (NCAA Division I), brings versatility to the Red Sox pitching staff. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound left-hander from Sydney, Australia has made six appearances this season, going 1-0 with a 7.36 ERA, while striking out four over 11 innings. Prior to New Mexico, Jackson pitched at Howard College (Texas) from 2024-2025, where he logged a 7-4 record with a 8.29 ERA over 14 games (nine starts), including one complete game. In 63 innings, he recorded 56 strikeouts and 24 walks, good for a 2.3 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Over his collegiate career, Jackson has averaged 7.75 strikeouts per nine innings with a 3.32 walks per nine.
“Sam is a big left-hander from Australia who gives us another versatile option on the mound,” Pothakos added. “He features three quality pitches and has the ability to contribute in multiple
roles, whether that’s as a starter or in a middle relief spot. We expect him to be a strong presence for us this season.”
With the additions of Gordon and Jackson, the Red Sox continue to build valuable depth on the mound as they prepare for the WCBL campaign.
