RED SOX ADD CANADIAN TALENT WITH THREE SIGNINGS FOR 2026 SEASON
Regina, Sask. — The Regina Red Sox are pleased to announce the signing of three Canadian players—right-handed pitcher Tristan Eberle (Regina, Sask.), catcher Brady Bye (White City, Sask.), and outfielder Raine Kreklewetz (Toronto, Ont.), ahead of the 2026 Western Canadian Baseball League season.
Bye returns to Regina for his fourth season with the Club, bringing veteran leadership and proven production behind the plate. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound left-handed hitting catcher is currently completing his senior season at Point University (NAIA), where he is batting .268 with two home runs, eight doubles, and 24 RBIs in 25 games, while playing primarily third base.
The White City product is coming off a standout 2025 campaign with the Red Sox, where he hit .333 with a .399 on-base percentage and a .947 OPS across 45 games. Bye also finished tied for seventh in the WCBL with nine home runs and was named the team’s playoff MVP, leading Regina to a league championship. In eight postseason games, he hit .333 (12-for-36) with 10 RBIs.
“The return of Brady is great news as we continue to assemble our roster for 2026,” said Red Sox Field Manager Rye Pothakos. “He had an outstanding 2025 season, and we look forward to his leadership and production again this summer.”
Eberle, a Regina native, adds size and upside to the Red Sox pitching staff. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound right-hander features a fastball that sits between 87-89 mph and is currently a freshman at the University of Mary (NCAA Division II). He has appeared in 3.2 innings this season, recording three strikeouts.
Eberle previously attended Arizona Western College (2024-25) and has represented Team Saskatchewan, continuing to develop into a promising arm on the mound.
“Tristan is a big right-handed pitcher with velocity and a high ceiling,” added Pothakos. “We’re excited to see him continue to mature and develop into an integral piece of our pitching staff.”
Kreklewetz, a 6-foot-1, 201-pound outfielder from Toronto, rounds out the trio with an impressive offensive resume early in his collegiate career. A freshman at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Kreklewetz is batting .364 with four home runs and 18 RBIs in 23 games.
A left-handed hitter, Kreklewetz is also an alum of the prestigious Ontario Blue Jays program, known for producing high-level talent.
“Raine is an exceptional athlete with great baseball IQ,” said Pothakos. “He was a member of Canada’s Top 100 and is having a fantastic freshman season at NEO. We’re looking forward to what he can bring to our lineup.”
“We look forward to all three players contributing to our quest to repeat as WCBL champions,” Pothakos added.
The Regina Red Sox continue to build a competitive roster with a strong Canadian presence as they prepare for the 2026 WCBL season.
