REGINA, Sask. – The Regina Red Sox will be well represented at the 2026 Western Canadian Baseball League All-Star Weekend, as five players and manager Rye Pothakos have been selected to participate in the mid-summer showcase at Cairns Field in Saskatoon from July 18-19.
Right-handed pitchers Kaegan Baker and David Gordon, along with infielders Brady Bye, Justin Simard, and Will Togher, have all earned All-Star honours after strong first-halfs of the season. Joining the group will be longtime Red Sox manager Rye Pothakos, who guided the club to a 2026 WCBL Championship and enters the weekend closing in on 100 career WCBL victories with Regina.
Baker has emerged as one of the WCBL’s top arms this season, leading the Red Sox with 45 strikeouts in 31.1 innings pitched, while his workload ranks tied for first on the club in innings.
Gordon has been equally valuable in a variety of roles, excelling as both a starter and late-inning reliever. Over 20 innings, the right-hander owns a 3.60 ERA with 26 strikeouts and just nine walks, providing the Red Sox with reliable innings whenever called upon.
Offensively, Bye has been one of the league’s premier power hitters. The third baseman leads the Red Sox with nine home runs and 40 RBIs through 31 games, while posting a .333 batting average, .393 on-base percentage, and .993 OPS.
Simard has been a catalyst at the top of Regina’s lineup all season. The versatile infielder is batting .339 with a .405 on-base percentage in 29 games, consistently setting the table and reaching base for the heart of the order.
At first base, Togher has delivered a balanced offensive campaign. The sophomore slugger is batting .310 with three home runs and 22 RBIs in 30 games, while leading the Red Sox with seven doubles.
The 2026 WCBL All-Star Weekend begins on Saturday, July 18, with the league’s skills competition before the WCBL All-Star Game takes center stage on Sunday, July 19, at Cairns Field in Saskatoon.
