The Red Sox game started the game with an emotional tribute to teammate Jesse Lubiniecky who was killed in a single motor vehicle accident returning home to Regina from Taft CC in California.
Team President had issued this statement on social media earlier in the day
“The Regina Red Sox were devastated to hear of the tragic passing of Jesse Lubiniecki early Friday morning. Jesse was entering his second season with the Sox and just finished his sophomore season at Taft Community College with the Cougars. Jesse was on his way back to Regina when he was involved in a single-vehicle rollover in Rosebud County, Montana. The Red Sox organization would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his parents, Noel and Kim, and his brothers, Luke, Layne and FiancĂ©e Cathy. We will play out the season with #33 in our hearts.”
The game started and it was evident the players were playing this game for Jesse. The bats were alive from the start and the Sox defeated Medicine Hat Mavericks 14-9 in the end to improve their record to 3-1 on the season.

Regina came out swinging and scored 4 runs in the first inning and then added runs in every inning except the 2nd and 6th inning.

Offensively the Sox were lead by Rafael Jackson. The CF went 4 for 5 with 4 runs batted in and was named player of the game.

LHP Holden Hungerford earned his second win in his 2nd start pitching 6 strong innings allowing 3 earned runs on 8 hits and struck out 1 Maverick batter.
Next game is tonight when the same two teams do battle at 7:00 PM at Currie Field!
