Cito Gaston Bio

Cito (Clarence Edward) Gaston was originally signed by the Milwaukee Braves in 1964 and went on to play 11 seasons in the majors. His finest campaign came with the San Diego Padres in 1970, when he hit .318 with 29 home runs and 93 RBIs. That season Cito earned all-star status and the Padres team MVP award.

In 1981, Gaston turned his attention to coaching and joined the Braves as a minor league hitting instructor. Prior to the 1982 season Cito joined Bobby Cox, to become the Blue Jays’ first fulltime batting instructor.

He became the clubs team manager in 1989 and success followed likeable Gaston as he lead Toronto to back-to-back World Series Championships. From 2000 to 2008 he served other roles with the team until he was rehired as the Blue Jays manager in June 2008.

The Regina Red Sox is a not for profit, community organization. This yearly event is necessary to sustain the team and continue its-on-field success.
